Le Dernier Combat
Aroview: The director's impressive debut (at the age of 24) is a post-apocalyptic fable, strikingly filmed in black and white with almost no dialogue.
Presenting the ironic search for love by a male survivor amid the ruins of civilization peopled by isolated misfits, this is evocative, comic and at times suspenseful. Combining elements of Sergio Leone's westerns, a burbling soundtrack and brilliant locations with his own populist touch, Besson creates a minor classic of the genre.

3 stars (Good Enough) No-doubt an impressive and ambitious debut, although a little too-strange for most, and combining so many elements that it at times loses its way. ~Tom H
2 stars (Good Try) 2/5 - Fortunately, Besson as improved over time. This one is more an historical start of career. As far as first movie goes, Spielberg's "Duel" was incomparably better. ~Anonz
