Locals, The
Aroview: A local horror outing that follows a couple of surfie city kids into the Waikato bush, where they discover an undead netherworld of shady rural types and fellow strays from the city.
Sound-tracked by local rock heroes like The D4 and The Datsuns (for whom the director has made music videos), and with an affinity for petrolhead/surf culture, this will have its fans among the target youth market, but a “Lord of the Rings” in-joke aside, this is disappointingly slim-witted, and misses the crucial inventiveness that the genre demands.
