Daddy and Them
Aroview: Low-key, quirky and casually paced, dir. Thornton's tribute to his roots unfolds as an Arkansas clan draw together to support their imprisoned uncle.
Although unfairly shelved by Miramax for several years this builds from its modest opening scenes into an endearing drama with many eccentric notes, building to a genuine portrait of Southern dysfunctionality. Includes a great support cast, including folk singer John Prine.
