Where the Heart Is
Aroview: A likeable chick flick tracking Natalie Portman's path from pregnant, jilted trailer-trash, towards some kind of happiness. The movie's contrasting impulses towards sweetness and grit are personified in its stars - Portman, delightful in the main role of Southern teen, seems a little sweet considering her character's upbringing in the school of hard knocks.
Meanwhile Ashley Judd is a portrait of no-nonsense good humour in the face of continually meeting the wrong guy, and getting pregnant again in the process. Watch out too for Stockard Channing as a kindhearted Christian, who keeps sinning against God on the kitchen table.
