Intolerable Cruelty
Aroview: Another sophisticated comedy from the Coen Brothers, here certifying George Clooney as a leading man with dab comic timing, opposite a smouldering, equally-well-cast Catherine Zeta-Jones.
Set in an LA where everyone is rich and unscrupulous, Clooney’s cocky divorce lawyer meets his match in Zeta-Jones’ gold-digging serial divorcee, who schemes revenge after he legally frisks her of a lucrative divorce settlement. Influenced by the smart, dialogue-driven “screwball” satires of Preston Sturges and Ernst Lubitsch, the Coens’ update hangs itself on the hilarious conceit of the ‘pre-nup’ agreement - drawn up and ripped to shreds at will - typifying the fine and fickle line between trust and greed in high society.

4 stars (Very Good) It doesn't come together with the usual Coen brilliance, but it is still miles ahead of the dull tropes of the rom-com genre. ~Wizzums
2 stars (Good Try) The first segment was okay with Geoffrey Rush but then thats his lot. Billy Bob adds some interest but the whole thing crumples under the weight of the two piece suits and the make-up. ~Tubbs
