Sex at 24 Frames Per Second

Aroview: Presented by Playboy magazine, this documentary treads interestingly through the history of sex in Hollywood movies.

Featuring excerpts of dozens of movies from THE TEN COMMANDMENTS through to UNFAITHFUL, and footage of Jean Harlow, Marlene Dietrich, Marilyn Monroe and Sharon Stone, this fairly patchy overall in its treatment. Interviews with latter day directors like Adrian Lyne and Paul Verhoeven are good, as is the treatment of sex in horror films. However, subjects like male sexuality and the pornography industry are mostly avoided. Scarcely insightful, but solid nonetheless.
