Wife, The
Aroview: An adult drama to be savoured - director Tom Noonan adapts his own stageplay for the screen, matching the wit and intelligence of his text with accomplished cinematic craft.
Practising their brand of new age psychiatry out of a designer country retreat, marrieds Julie Hagerty and Noonan himself have their quiet night interrupted by the arrival of client Wallace Shawn and his shrill wife (Young), whose candidness soon dissipates the social niceties.
Through its mix of cynicism, compassion and rewarding honesty, Noonan’s is an astute, if not always comfortable, dissection of the relationships between husbands and wives.
