Aroview: A precisely-crafted colour 'noir' from the French master, dir. Melville, which rejigs the usual ingredients into an exemplary heist thriller.

Delon plays a parolee who is drawn into the robbery of a tightly-guarded jewellers in wintery downtown Paris, but who is pursued by the underworld and a ruthless police inspector. Montand is particularly memorable as an alcoholic marksman.
