Cercle Rouge, Le
Aroview: A precisely-crafted colour 'noir' from the French master, dir. Melville, which rejigs the usual ingredients into an exemplary heist thriller.
Delon plays a parolee who is drawn into the robbery of a tightly-guarded jewellers in wintery downtown Paris, but who is pursued by the underworld and a ruthless police inspector. Montand is particularly memorable as an alcoholic marksman.

3 stars (Good Enough) Competently made with the pacing never quicker than steady - the jewelry break-in felt as if it was shot in real time no doubt to maintain the tension. ~Tubbs
