Ciao! Manhattan
Aroview: The notorious documentary portrait of Andy Warhol 'superstar' Edie Sedgwick, whose beguiling good looks and dissolute lifestyle came to symbolise the downtown New York scene, with its penchant for pop-art, hard drugs and eccentric personalities.
Very loosely this film is structured around firstly, an abandoned 'thriller' shot on B/W film in the late 60s with fellow 'Factory' hangers-on, and secondly, colour footage of Sedgwick shot shortly before her death in 1970. Experimental in tone - mainly influenced by the French New Wave - this is initially difficult viewing, but remains a unique document.
