Aroview: Costner stars and takes the reins of this latterday Western about a group of itinerant cattle grazers fending off the thuggish tactics of a brutal rancher.

Acclaimed by some critics as a significant revision of the genre, this is better seen as simply a well-made 'showdown drama', climaxing in an excellent gun-battle. That said, Duvall is a standout as an aging cowboy, while Kevin doesn't do too bad himself.

2 stars (Good Try) Another 2hr plus Costner movie .Locations are good to look at & the "final" shoot out is well done but then goes on for another half hour. Then the final final scene goes on and on & is romantic Hollywood - not only is it not required its embarrassing. ~Tubbs
