Aroview: Startling depiction of a young teenager who spins out of control as she falls in with the wrong crowd and beyond the reach of her struggling solo-mother (Holly Hunter).
Directed with an appropriate sense of spontaneity, danger and exhilaration, this shakes the rite-of-passage genre out of its complacency from the get-go, compounded by terrific editing, a killer soundtrack and several urgent performances.

4 stars (Very Good) Solid story with a distinctly L.A. tint to it. I have yet to see a bad Holly Hunter performance. Touches on a lot of good themes about fitting in, friendship, betrayal, family, and struggles with drug abuse and mental illness. ~b1tch.2k
