Aroview: A violent, straight-faced adaptation of the Marvel Comics hero (without superpowers), a traumatised cop who seeks to inflict grave punishment after his family is wiped out by crime-lords.
Slicker and considerably bloodier than the previous version (1989), it also benefits from Travolta in the villain's role, though the tone uneasily veers towards camp self-parody in the second half.

3 stars (Good Enough) An underrated Marvel film, this is more violent and gritty than the average Marvel superhero flick, but you wouldn't exactly call The Punisher a superhero... ~Tom H
