Villa Des Roses

Aroview: A visually stylish excursion to Paris on the eve of WWI, in a shabby boarding house run by an English couple (Henderson and West) into which a new maid (Delpy) brings a breath of fresh air.

Intertwined with numerous subplots and thick with the atmosphere of its intrinsicly romantic setting, this finally settles around a fairly predictable love story - though is by no means as slight as some critics have made out. Based on the novel by Willem Elschot.
