Notebook, The
Aroview: An old-fashioned weepie set in a coastal town in 1940's North Carolina, this nostalgic "woman's picture" finds a sure-footed romantic tone but is likely too sentimental to sweep their menfolk off their feet.
Framed by the reading of a notebook, its pages reveal how over the course of a summer, a wealthy debutante fell in love with a humble mill worker, only to be driven apart by the outbreak of World War II. By the time war is over, fate has furnished them with separate destinies but brought them back to the same town to reconcile their wounded hearts.

5 stars (Exceptional) Im a girl easily 5 stars ~atsophie
2 stars (Good Try) There is some lovely photography but that is not enough to maintain one's interest for two hours. ~Tubbs
3 stars (Good Enough) A good old-fashioned US romance. Rich girls & poor boys. A fine study of "class-less" America in year two of WW2, not that you'd notice. And everyone seems to have a well-tuned car. The insularity of US society and ignorance of the world is very eviden ~Anon
