Youth, The
Aroview: A Bollywood epic with debts to the likes of PULP FICTION and AMORES PERROS, structuring the storylines of three contrasting young men around a fateful accident in Calcutta.
Violent and ambitious in tone, this marks a sophisticated swerve from the usual preoccupations of Bollywood, although the flashback plotting begins to lumber in the second half, unable to cope with the personal, social and political agendas being juggled. However lush photography and an excellent electronic score cement an impressively contemporary feel.
