Munchhausen
Aroview: This adaptation of the Rudolph Raspe novel about the extraordinary tall-tales of a German baron is a genuine oddity, both historically and cinematically.
Sponsored by a Nazi regime envious of the Hollywood spectacles of the time, it is one of the most lavish 'Agfacolor' epics ever made, comprising a series of surreal adventures across the world and on the moon. Although impressive in hindsight, the film failed to distract the German population from their plight. It was even penned by a banned Jewish author Erich Kastner!
