Patriot Games (1992)
Competent enough with the casting of Sean Bean being a big plus.
On Golden Pond (1981)
Probably the experience of the leads avoids it getting too cringeworthy. If anything it is worth watching out of respect for Henry Fonda's distinguished career.
Hustlers (2019)
You can see what the screenplay was trying to achieve but it fails to last the distance.
Jean Paul Gaultier: Freak and Chic (2019)
He looks to be more interesting than most of the large number of fashion designers that have been documented on film in recent times.
I Need That Record! (The Death (or Possible Survival) of the Independent Record Store) (2010)
It has a similar theme to that used for the death of the video store – excellent interviews of the little players (those who know their product) and a historical perspective of the industry that brought about the situation we are in today.
Kitchen, The (2019)
It has a respectable number of killings but it doesn't really get steamed up at any stage.
Divine Order, The (2018)
The dramatisation is well meaning but it soon becomes a bit obvious.
Truly, Madly, Deeply (1990)
If Juliet Stevenson and Alan Rickman were the love pairing in all romantic films I would become a fan of the genre. Her emotions are genuine and understandable playing against an exasperating Rickman. Great writing from Director Minghella.
Kundun (1998)
I don't think the screenplay can be relied upon for all its historical aspects but the production is of a high quality.
Slack Bay (Ma Loute) (2016)
Fabrice Luchini has a way of moving that I haven't seen on screen before & with his character's sister played by Juliette Binoche forms a bizarre twosome. In fact, the only characters in this excellent black comedy that are normal end up on the menu.
