Villain (2020)
Although not overburdened with originality the first half was good. Thanks to good casting and the quality of the supporting actors that are available the British gangster characters are usually believable and these guys are no exception.
In The Aisles (In den Gängen) (2018)
Most of the first hour was very good – an interesting look behind the scenes – probably my first serious supermarket film. The last hour was not so interesting and the ending when it finally does arrive was not that strong.
Songs for Drella (1989)
Dusting off The Velvet Underground.
Bootmen (2000)
The stars are for the dance segments – forget the rest.
Garage Days (2002)
Not great but you will see a lot worse.
He Got Game (1998)
The screenplay has some good, mainly cynical, segments but overall it is too long and that is maybe one reason it doesn't work.
Harold and Maude (1970)
The casting, not only of the odd couple but those in support is excellent – all are on the same wavelength and come to the party – they do justice to the offbeat screenplay.
Alamo, The (1960)
The screenplay has a lot of speeches but the action sequences once they do arrive are well done. A great Hollywood ending. A lot more of Richard Boone would have helped.
Blaze (2022)
Young Blaze is very good and the screenplay although a bit uneven is never boring if only because of its psychedelic presentation.
House of Gucci (2021)
Well produced but it needed to lose half an hour – it doesn't matter which half hour – any half hour would do.
