Bonnie and Clyde (1967)
Very well shot. One of the reasons it is still watchable 50+ years on is the casting of the 5 leads.
Some Girls (1988)
It is not as bad as it looks but Dempsey being the romantic target is not really convincing – the girls must have been desperate.
Mt. Zion (2013)- Well shot and the musical segments are worthwhile.
Cria Cuervos (1976)
- A study of a small slice of time and place through the eyes of an eight year old girl. Static but very well done.
Once Upon a Time in the West (1968)- The opening scene (before Bronson interrupts things and decimates some great casting) is a classic with Jack Elam's battle with the fly memorable. Once again Monument Valley is used to great effect and Morricone provides another classic score.
Postman Always Rings Twice, The (1981)- Nicholson portrays the ugly male animal and Jessica responds well as the target but the highlight of this remake is the production values where time and place are reconstructed very believably.
Young Ones (Bad Land: Road to Fury) (2014)- The screenplay was good in patches and although Hoult was okay it really needed a full time Michael Shannon.
Angel Heart (1987)- Not the strongest in the genre but as to be expected from the director it is well produced – the street scenes are a standout.
Bugsy (1991)- Very good production values are wasted on the story of a thug. A black and white crime documentary would have been more appropriate.
Perrier's Bounty (2009)- Although the screenplay disappoints, for me, Gleeson and Broadbent are compulsory viewing.
