Apt Pupil (1998): An interesting screenplay that falls short of its potential, but McKellen is excellent, and that should be enough to invite a watch.
October Sky (1999): Very good production values for time and place. Jake G is fine, but it is Chris Cooper that stands out.
Don't Look Now We're Being Shot At (La Grande Vadrouille) (1966): It is long for a comedy, but it has an interesting mix of French and English comedic actors.
Voyage, The (Il Viaggio) (1974): The screenplay leans toward the dreary.
Violent Men, The (1955): The casting is stronger than the screenplay.
Darwin Awards, The (2007): A good plot idea, but not every segment of the screenplay works as well as it could have.
Crimes and Misdemeanors (1989): It was heavy on dialogue, which may have been okay if the characters had been a bit more interesting.
Gabrielle (2005): It plays like a play, but there are two good performances.
Amityville Horror, The (1979): No matter how many Amityville films I see, I can never spell Amityville.
One Armed Swordsman (Dubei dao) (1967): A one–armed slaughtering machine. A well made production.
