Grandma (2015)
Lily does well as usual and has Marcia Gay Harden to cross words with but these two deserved a better script. The screenplay was nothing to write home about.
To Rome with Love (2012)
As "Vicky Cristina Barcelona" (2008) did for Barcelona we see the shinier parts of Rome. Benigni takes care of the comedy.
Stanford Prison Experiment, The (2015)
The dramatisation may or may not have reflected what went on at Stanford but this screenplay became quite repetitive and it failed to hold interest – an hour and a bit should have been sufficient to make its point.
Better Living Through Chemistry (2014)
The comedy is not sophisticated and as a mature adult I found it tiresome after a few scenes.
Two Weeks Notice (2002)
Amiable comedy with the leads working well off each other – harmless.
Addams Family, The (1991)
The spot on casting of Lloyd, Ricci and Huston make this a winner even if some of the screenplay is over dependant on gimmicks. The make up department do an excellent job on all the cast.
Splendour in the Grass (1961)
Natalie does well & I liked the performances of Audrey Christie & Martine Bartlett. The screenplay is uneven but you do get a feel for the sexual mores. There are some very worthwhile scenes which warrant a viewing. Set designs & wardrobe are commendable.
My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2 (2016)
14 years between films – they must have thought hard and long about it.
Secret in Their Eyes (2015)
Its a while since I saw the original but I think this version falls into the ordinary basket in comparison.
33, The (2015)
Every true event has to be dramatised at the expense of some of the truth. A bit of dust on the miners would have helped.
