Bambi (1942-2006)
Bambi original = 4 stars – it reflects the curiosity and the fears of the young wonderfully well. Bambi 2 not quite as good = 3 stars but can still be recommended.
Must Love Dogs (2005)
There seemed to be a hell of a lot of characters – a lot of them male and filling in as spare parts.Diane and the other older hands make it watchable.
Hot Pursuit (2015)
Reese has nailed her character extremely well. Not a particularly original plot but Reese makes it enjoyable and watchable.
Addicted to Love (1997)
It tries to be a bit more than a rom/com for which it should be commended.
King Kong (1933)
Fay Wray is delightful. There is genuine suspense at times even for today's audiences. The animation is both enjoyable and admirable & has earned its place in cinema history.NB Watch "the Making of" – I rate it at 5 stars.
Jersey Girl (2004)
Affleck really struggles with the acting component of his role. The plot makes you cringe at times.
Dirty Dancing (1987)
When they are not pawing each other there are some good dance moves. The acting is pretty ordinary though.
Runaway Bride (1999)
There isn't enough material for close to 2 hours – its a one joke scenario. Everyone is pleasant but Joan Cusack's is the only interesting performance.
Crazy Heart (2009)
The broken down "has been" has been done before. The love relationship is not credible and in any case doesn't work nor help the film. Bridges is fine and so is some of the music.
Boxtrolls, The (2014)
Quality animation and just as importantly quality characters.
