American Pie 2 (2001): I thought Alyson Hannigan did okay but the plot is juvenile.Other comedies have done better with similar juvenile material.
Hannibal Rising (2007): A promising initial ten minutes then things get silly. A bit of restraint would have helped the viewer to maintain interest.I can never understand why female characters in films fall for the obvious bad guy – and in this case even a psychopath.
Buona Sera, Mrs. Campbell (1968): A very light scenario. Too much yelling and hysterics made the characters annoying.
Halls of Montezuma (1950): A more than useful cast helps make this better than average for its type.Its not all action as there is time for character development.
Alien Abduction (2014): The title is a dead give away so there is no suspense element. Treads a well trodden path with this kind of hand held camera realism horror.
Fall of the Roman Empire (1964): There is acting talent a long way down the cast list but poor Sophia has to carry the feminine load as this is a man's picture. What lifts this above the average epic are the performances of Guinness,Mason and especially Plummer who owns the stage.
Oculus (2013): A good plot and reasonably suspenseful.
Slumdog Millionaire (2008): I've seen this twice – after the first viewing my comment was "shots of the slums are the only redeeming feature." The second viewing confirms this film is pure commercialism – I'm sure the slums would have offered up a more worthwhile story.
Jupiter Ascending (2015): An impressive special effects actioner with excellent costumes and makeup.
House of Magic, The (Thunder and the House of Magic) (2013): Terrific entertainment about some interesting characters and animals.
