Beautiful Country, The (2004)
I would say it was made with good intentions and thanks also to an excellent performance from Ling Bai it is well worth a look.
Glorias, The (2020)
The screenplay, because of the flashbacks, was stretched out a bit but the period details looked good. Hopefully, the film will raise interest in her story and encourage further reading.
Joanna Lumley: Girl Friday (1994)
It has curiosity value.
Patton (1970)
The production is fine but it is Scott's performance that gets you through the long screenplay.
Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors (1965)
The photography is sumptuous and the very busy soundtrack is excellent.
Wild Mountain Thyme (2020)
An interesting casting mix and the screenplay has the odd good offbeat moment but it has to fall back on the location shooting at times.
Aelita: Queen of Mars (1924)
"I'm flying to Mars tomorrow".
Fail Safe (1964)
A capable cast, in the hands of a top director, does justice to a very strong plot idea.
Savage (2020)
Although the characters weren't that interesting it does a pretty good job with the period details, particularly the '60s.
Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children (2004)
Not an anime fan but this looked good.
