Yaqui’s Film Reviews

About me: Now that I am an old retired bloke I must get cracking on a few projects I have had in mind. One of these is to see as many films as possible from the years 1964-1975. (over 75 min long and excluding TV films). While I normally like things slightly odd or off-beat (not gross) this project means I have to watch all genres even ones I dislike eg Action and Romances. But I can be surprised. Top Ten from this period. The Wicker Man, Zulu, Georgy Girl, Slaughterhouse 5, The Man Who Would Be King, Tommy, If, The Hour of the Wolf, Clockwork Orange, Satyricon

Ballad of Tam-Lin, TheBallad of Tam-Lin, The (The Devil's Widow) (1970)
5 stars (Exceptional) A forgotten gem from the past. Those who liked the Wicker Man should like this though the story is not similar. An interesting tale from days of yore transferred to the swinging sixties. An experience!
Blu-Ray $34.95
Hallelujah Trail, TheHallelujah Trail, The (1965)
5 stars (Exceptional) A great evenings entertainment. Lancaster and Remick work really well together supported by a great cast. I watch this film often. If you have friends around or want to get all the family into a good mood this is the one to show.
Little MurdersLittle Murders (1971)
5 stars (Exceptional) Hilarious dark comedy that could only have come from the poison pen of cartoonist & playwright Jules Feiffer (Carnal Knowledge, Kill My Mother).
With Six You Get Egg RollWith Six You Get Egg Roll (1968)
3 stars (Good Enough) Doris Day fans might enjoy this one. It was watchable if you like romances and it was funny in places. Not to be sneered at, but at the same time don't expect too much.
Murder AhoyMurder Ahoy (1964)
3 stars (Good Enough) A jaunty tune introduces this light–hearted whodunnit. A the film moves along at an acceptable pace as the intrepid Miss Marple is on the case again. Enjoyable nostalgia. Good cast.
