Female Convict Scorpion: Jailhouse 41
Aroview: A classic of Japanese 70s exploitation cinema, this charts the grim road to freedom for a gaggle of women escaped-convicts with a feverish intensity and in audacious cinematic terms.
Led by the legendary Meiko Kenji as 'Scorpion', a mute loner who inspires the jail-break, their journey is beset with in-fighting and rivalry as well as the brutal authorities and lecherous and insensitive locals. The second entry in a series of six "Female Convict Scorpion" films, this is not only reputed as the best of them, but its also possibly the best women-in-prison picture ever made.
