Amityville Horror, The

Aroview: Competent, though hardly inspiring remake of the 1979 horror, in which a couple of happy newlyweds shift into a baleful-looking house, without knowing it was the recent site of a grisly mass killing, then becoming subject to a series of paranormal 'consequences'.

Very much a familiar riff on the usual haunted house tropes, this trots out the moving furniture, bad smells and possessed Dad, with a certain modicum of fun and can reasonably be praised as a slight improvement on its plodding predecessor.
