USA 2003, 93 minutes
Dir. Vincent Gallo
Genres: Cult, Drama / Independent, Road Movie
Feat. Vincent Gallo, Chloe Sevigny
Aroview: Notoriously egocentric gem from Vincent Gallo, who stars, directs, writes, shoots, edits and produces an intriguingly desultry road-trip across America, as a motorcycle racer searching for his old girlfriend amid the social desolation of the continent and his morbidly self-obsessed mindscape.
Famous for being loudly boo-ed at Cannes in 2003, this much-tightened new 'cut' focuses the visual poetry, enigmatic encounters and folk-rock soundtrack with (apparently) less time-wasting though equal indulgence. Some audiences may still find its fairly directionless tone, topped off with a hard-core porn scene, uninspiring, yet connoisseurs of the downbeat will find ample and oddly warming gratification.

1 star (Turkey) Vincent Gallo is known one of the world's most arrogant actors - and if the Brown Bunny is anything to go by, he has entirely no reason to be. Lacking in direction, with poor performances, and no saving features that I can think of. ~Tom H
1 star (Turkey) Oops, Vincent, your ego is showing. I personally found this extremely hard to swallow. ~HiFi
5 stars (Exceptional) Vincent Gallo's 'The Brown Bunny': Pure cinema as the art-form you really want it to be. Uber-bioskoopa! For true heads only! ~Dr_'n'
