In Her Shoes
Aroview: Intelligent, if overly conventional adaptation of Jennifer Weiner's chick-lit novel about two contrasting and clashing sisters: the ebullient and irresponsible one (Diaz) and the professional and timid one (Collette).
After they finally outwear their relationship, a parting of ways produces progress on several fronts, with Diaz discovering their long-lost grandmother in Florida, and Collette finding possible romance. Of course, sisterly reconciliation is not too far over the horizon either. Dir. Hanson here attempts to map the female territory equivalent to WONDER BOYS, and certainly polishes his dialogue with an enjoyable warmth and wit, while Diaz gives perhaps her most shaded performance to date.

4 stars (Very Good) Many pleasures here. It's slightly mechanical (more diagram than screenplay) but the acting more than makes up for it. Hard to single out any of the wonderful cast, but it's always great to see Norman Lloyd... ~HiFi
3 stars (Good Enough) ~Milana
