Happy Endings

Aroview: A clutch of hedonistic Americans collide, abuse and impregnate each other in this typically light yet smart black comedy from the dir. of THE OPPOSITE OF SEX.

Set around a trio of storylines (which intersect at the finale) in which Kudrow is blackmailed by a filmmaker; Coogan suspects his lesbian friend has used his boyfriend to get pregnant; and Gyllenhaal sleeps with a musician so as to get close to his father. Although replete with intertitle explanations of the action and the odd miscast, this has a certain blithe quality that is actually quite entertaining and hormonally good-natured by the finale. Worth a look.
