Howl's Moving Castle
Aroview: Yet another miraculous animated odyssey from Hayao Miyazaki, who finds a perfect vehicle in the English fantasy novel by Diana Wynne Jones, about a teenage girl who falls for a reclusive, gifted magician while under a witch's curious curse.
Abundant in visual imagination, character eccentricity and inspiring humanism, the director replays many of these beloved trademarks to superb effect, though notably enriched this time by the romantic dimension and a surprising humour. Though criticized in some quarters for its "organic storytelling", the rewards here are especially in the details of the journey, and the presence of 'genius' is throughout.
The optional English language audio track features the voices of Emily Mortimer, Christian Bale, Lauren Bacall and Billy Crystal.
