Red Dust

Aroview: A boldly straightforward courtroom drama set during the Truth and Reconciliation Commission era of post-Apartheid South Africa, where a former policeman seeks amnesty from the torture he inflicted during the 1980s.

One of his black victims - who has since become a successful ANC politician - struggles to recall the torture due to its severity, but participates in order to learn the fate of a friend who was arrested at the same time, (Swank plays his lawyer). Although perhaps too morally polarised, this grasps at the complexities of motivation and power with a certain white-knuckle suspense.
