1 Nite
Aroview: A successfully dramatic foray into the night-worlds of half-a-dozen characters frequenting Auckland's K' Road: a Sikh taxi-driver, two old friends, a prostitute, an ex-cop and assorted hangers-on.
Shot on DV on the fly, dir. Singh manages an admirable visual intensity with the camera following an unpredictable series of experiences and transformations, with everyone ultimately hurtling towards some rather sticky conflicts. If the dark tone seems rather thickly-laid at times, the understated veracity of the performances keeps this nicely oiled.

3 stars (Good Enough) One best-forgotten night out on K Road that follows two old friends getting drunk, a Sikh taxi-driver, a prostitute, ex-cop, a good samaritan and a crippled ex-cop. Charged performances and engaging dialogue. Pretty good but not great. ~GenXGirl
2 stars (Good Try) It might have some appeal to locals. ~Tubbs
