Lonesome Jim
Aroview: Another droll indie gem from actor-turned-director Buscemi (TREES LOUNGE), here charting the apathetic trajectory of a listless twenty-something writer (Affleck) who returns to his Indiana hometown and mopes through the lives of various family oddballs, neighbours and finally an angelic nurse (Tyler).
Shot and DV and overlain with a mournful harmonica soundtrack, this initially seems to trace a familiar midwestern suburban desolation, but actually excavates a dryly farcical (yet humanistic) tone all its own. Scripted by comicbook-writer James C. Strouse.
