Legend Of Zorro, The
Aroview: Rather belated sequel to THE MASK OF ZORRO finds most of the cast (minus Anthony Hopkins) regrouping for another swashbuckling romp in 1850s California, set around various intrigues by French aristocrats and religious zealots designed to destabilise the nascent US state.
Further interest is provided by the unexpected souring of the once-passionate marriage between Banderas and Zeta-Jones, especially now that their young son has also adopted the mantle of blade-flashing, masked avenger to his mother's dismay. Cut with a gratifying amount of broad humour, swordplay, lustiness and repeated winks to the camera, this can hardly equal the fortuitous chemistry of the original, but is efficient and fun enough to go on with until the next PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN arrives.
