Mask of Zorro, The
Aroview: Scabarding much of the swordplay of the Tyrone Power original for mega-budget stuntwork and destruction, this ultimately swaps one brand of cartoonishness for another. Sabre in fist as he saves the oppressed peasants from Spanish wickedness, Antonio Banderas proves an excellent comic foil to Anthony Hopkins' deadpan density, while cutting a pretty caper with Catherine Zeta-Jones on the side as well.

2 stars (Good Try) The comedy within the action sequences and the stunt work are very good but there is too much not happening in between even with the quality in Hopkins and Stuart Wilson. ~Tubbs
3 stars (Good Enough) No matter how much guy liner they put on Hopkins, he's not latino. Still, it's a fun, stunt-driven swashbuckling family film of the variety that they don't seem to make anymore. It's great if you don't look too hard. ~Pop&Coffee
