Count of Monte Cristo, The
Aroview: Replicating the contemporary-yet-traditional witty action-mix of MASK OF ZORRO, this version of Alexander Dumas’ 19th century potboiler doesn’t fail to swashbuckle.
This finds an aggrieved Jim Caviezel seeking to revenge himself on old-pal Guy Pearce, who steals his girlfriend and lands him in a horrible dungeon to rot. Expensive locations, high romance and a lack of Hollywood heavy-handedness make for a pleasing rollicker.
