Bomb the System
Aroview: A tale of alienated youth in New York City, set around a teenager's (Webber) nocturnal activities spraying graffiti around the city streets with a motley crew of other miscreants, whose ultimate goal is to 'bomb' the Brooklyn Bridge.
Although dramatically sketching some familiar rites-of-passage, dir. Lough also accesses a certain authentic understanding of the meaning of this deliberate form of civil disobedience and its artistic dimensions, which has seen it hailed in some quarters as the best film on the subject since WILD STYLE. Edited in a frenzied blur of oversaturated film stock, this also conveys a knowing awareness of the strange beauty of the nighttime urban world.
