Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence
Aroview: Visually emphatic, conceptually flummoxing sequel to Mamoru Oshii's cyberpunk touchstone GHOST IN THE SHELL.
Cybernetic detective Batou returns to investigate a case involving sex androids gone haywire, but is drawn into a complex web of techno-deceit. Basically incomprehensible, but combines tradition cell and CG animation to intoxicating effect.

4 stars (Very Good) It is quite heavy on the philosophical quotes, and the 3D elements doesn't always work well with the traditional animation, but it is nevertheless an intriguing piece of sci fi, both in terms of story and visual images. ~K. Ino
