Housemaid, The

Aroview: A sleek, sexual thriller of manipulation and revenge, centred on the consequences of a torrid affair between a wealthy industrialist and his newly employed housemaid.

Sharp, modernist visuals and some downright steamy sex scenes make this especially eye-watering even by Korean standards, though it must be said that the film's psychological ammunition delivers more puff than punch. Male-centric in its focus, and more interested in stuffy class dynamics than gender or sexual politics, it eventually runs out of bite and breath despite a bizarre finale that will have you scratching your head.
