Aroview: An old fashioned mortality play told through the eyes of Russia's new monied class, centred on the wife of a wealthy businessman whose sudden death spurs her to desperate measures.
Essentially a film noir as class critique, this is shot through with stylish restraint. Although a little too emotionally remote for some tastes, dir. Zvyagintsev's artful eye coupled with Philip Glass' distinctive score make for an engrossing tale of self-preservation.

3 stars (Good Enough) The screenplay is uncomplicated and is not overburdened by dialogue but the silences, particularly through Nadezhda Markina as the lead character, are used well. The score by Philip Glass is a bonus. ~Tubbs
