Brush With Fate

Aroview: A cloistered prep school teacher (Close) reveals to a colleague (Gibson) that she is in possession of a lost painting - 'Girl in Hyancinth Blue' - by the Dutch master Vermeer, and unfurls the fascinating provenance of her discovery.

Told as a series of dramatic vignettes which chart the painting's progress across three centuries through Europe and into the hands of the Nazis, this teledrama has an episodic quality, but will fascinate art lovers. From the novel by Susan Vreeland.
