Kidulthood
Aroview: Authentic and bleak slice of West London street life in which a group of jive-talking teenagers plot their moves in the 48 hours after a classmate's suicide, specifically to confront the playground bully responsible.
Freewheeling through a narrative of sex, drugs, casual violence and shoplifting, before a bloody showdown at a weekend party, this revels in the hiphop patois and attitudes of its characters, although not all the performances are of equal quality. Overall however, this has an uncompromising street vibe that should impress afficianados of the genre.
