Serpent's Kiss, The

Aroview: Ambitious period drama follows a renowned Dutch landscape gardener (McGregor) to England where he finds himself coiled in the intrigues of various 'snake-ish' members of the wealthy family who have commissioned him.

As an inlaw who seems curiously intent on making the garden as expensive as possible, Richard E. Grant lends an entertaining thread of villainy, but as a whole the film is misarranged with various incongruous touches (eg. usingAfrican folk music on the soundtrack) outweighing its considerable visual charm.
