Pusher
Aroview: Intense Danish thriller follows a fast-living drug dealer's (Bodnia) downward arc after he inadvertantly loses a load of product and tries to scrape up funds in the seedy underworld of Copenhagen to repay the debt to a Balkan kingpin.
Notable for its attention to all the gritty, grimy details of the criminal economy and lifestyle, this also adds fistfuls of compelling violent action and long-limbed dialogue in the style of Tarantino, injected with the passion of Scorsese. Dir. Refn subsequently complete two sequels - both equally good - concentrating on different side characters.
