Initially working with the Mariinsky Theatre and Diaghlev (in Ballet Russes), Balanchine moved to the United States and is credited with revolutionising dance on Broadway, in Hollywood and by founding the New York City Ballet. Eventually he created over 450 works and dir. Brockway mines the archives deeply to present numerous valuable clips from the 1920s onwards.
