Feat. George Harrison, Eric Clapton, Bob Dylan, Ringo Starr
Aroview: A lavish presentation of possibly the first all-star charity concert, organised by ex-Beatle George Harrison in 1971 at Madison Square Gardens (New York) in order to raise funds for humanitarian assistance to Bangladesh following violent political upheavals, civil war, mass starvation and destructive floods.
With guest appearances by Ravi Shankar, Eric Clapton, Bob Dylan, Leon Russell and Ringo Starr, this was a top-notch performance (also released as a triple album and theatrical film) in which celebrities lent their star-power to a cause over a decade before LIVE AID and without the current cynicism attached to such events.
This 2-disc set includes a retrospective documentary about the film, plus bonus live tracks and rehearsal footage.
Tracklist: Bangla Dhun, Wah-Wah, My Sweet Lord, Awaiting on You All, That’s the Way God Planned It, It Don’t Come Easy, Beware of Darkness, While My Guitar Gently Weeps, Medley: Jumpin’ Jack Flash/Young Blood, Here Comes the Sun, A Hard Rain’s A-Gonna Fall, It Takes a Lot to Laugh It Takes a Train to Cry, Blowin’ in the Wind, Just Like a Woman, Something, Bangla Desh.
Bonus tracks: If Not For You, Come On In My Kitchen, Love Minus Zero/No Limit

3 stars (Good Enough) Free from hype or ego, this concert is still one of rock's most eloquent moments. Ravi Shankar and Ali Akbar Khan 'rock' too. ~Shorty
