Barnyard
Aroview: Pleasingly madcap musical set on an animated farm where the animals get up to all varieties of fun when the farmer's back is turned, chiefly singing and dancing from a plentiful canon of rock'n'roll hits, while keeping a watchful eye out for voracious coyotes.
The maker of JIMMY NEUTRON here brings a surprising degree of invention and true humour to a fairly tired genre, trumping certain overhyped recent efforts (eg. HOODWINKED). A nice strand of feelgood sentiment also animates the central story of a young heifer in search of a father figure. Note: the film, somewhat notoriously, equipped all the bovine characters with large udders, which may result in a few unusual questions from youngsters!
