Backwoods, The

Aroview: Latin slice of backwoods gothic is a classy revenge film, as things go from bad to worse for hunting buddy Brits Gary Oldman and Paddy Consadine when they discover an abandoned young girl in the Spanish countryside.

Owing a considerable debt to dir. Peckinpah, this follows the well travelled straw-brick-road of the 70s, with a central theme of miscommunication, suspenseful use of locations, intense shotgun action, and a strong final act in the rain.
