Face in the Crowd, A
Aroview: Pungent social commentary on American mass culture outlays the rags-to-riches trajectory of a hick nobody (Griffith) whose rapid rise to fame as first a radio and TV star, then political icon, turns him into a celebrity monster. Kazan's direction is feverish and ahead of its time, while Andy Griffith's performance – his first in a motion picture – is nothing short of incendiary.

2 stars (Good Try) The plot idea is very good but as presented it doesn't maintain interest over 2 hours.Patricia Neal is outstanding. ~Tubbs
5 stars (Exceptional) This compelling black comedy is just about as relevant in the Trump era as it must have been sixty years ago. Only the ending seems out of date in America's post-scandal era. ~Pearce
